It’s all about you
During these two days when i’ve been diving into the deep ocean of digital industry, PR, techonlogical development and commercial trends the feeling of overwellmedment has come to me many times. The internet is so big, and this industry (that is soon to be “mine”) is trying to speak to us in so many ways, on so many levels – emotionally, logically and intellectually – trying to get our attention, trying to sell us things. It’s just… so MUCH.
And in the middle of all this I’m trying to spot trends, grasp a glimpse of future. Arrrg.
It’s like Magnus Lindqvist from Pattern Recognition said during his lecture about Trendspotting and Future thinking; it’s so hard for us to see changes when all of our attention is focused on NOW.
But I try, I really do. And the biggest trends I’ve managed to spot so far is all about us.
1.Participation.
We want to create for ourselves, and spread our creativity. We want to express ourselves, through blogs, YouTube-videos, communities (facebook, last.fm and such) and tell the world who we are.
2. Personallity.
And we also want to have things custom made, to make us feel special. Designed mouses, USB-memories, pizzas, mobile-phones, jogging-shoes; you name it.
It seems like we’re driven by the spirit of our time; we all want to BE SOMEONE. We want to be individuals, feel like we’re uniqe in so many ways. The worst thing you can be is a copy. And the only way to proove that you exist is to express yourself.
I blog, therefore I am.
