This is my portfolio, I here present a few of the projects I’ve been working with so far. All illustrations are made by me, but since I’ve mostly been involved in the project management they represent the process, not the final result. Pictures can be clicked on for a full-size version. Other work I’ve done is listed in the sidebar.

People involved: The whole class of Digital Media 2010

Aim/purpose: To learn more about basics within marketing and promote ourselves, our class, our program and
our school.

My role: Project Manager.

Learning outcome: I learned during the weeks working with Marketing and Promoting our class how extremely difficult it is to motivate and gather 53 people to work towards the same goal. It was both exhausting and fantastic. You can read all my blogposts about the module here.

Final Result: The final result was our classite: 53colors.com and a release party at Astoria in Stockholm, where we invited the industry to celebrate the release of our site together with us.

EXPERIENCE TECHNOLOGY

Hyper Island, september 29th – october 23th 2008

experiencetechnology

People involved: Harald Hammar – design/building/constructing/concept and idea development, Kristofer Forsell – programming, Fred Bergman – concept and idea development/electronics, Fred Weinestad – designer and myself as project manager/everything else.

Aim/purpose: The main purpose with this task was for us to understand the role of a developer and the creative process that comes with the profession and feel comfortable working with technical issues, both on a theoretical and practical level.

The mission: Each group was handed a technology (like Wii-remotes, RFID-tags, different sensors etc.) My group got Arduino, an open source micro processor. Our mission was to, using Arduino, develop a functional, technology driven prototype solution that explores human interaction, in three weeks. The prototypes should after that be a part of a big Experience Technology exhibition, open for the industry and others.

Learning outcome: The biggest challenge for me as a project manager during this project was my lack of knowledge within the technology field. I had never seen an Arduino processor before and I had no idea of how to practically create an installation using it. So planning the projects lifecycle was quite difficult. What I tried to do was to be as participating as possible in the practical work even though it wasn’t my actual responsibility as a project manager. I learned that it is very important to have some knowledge about technical matters, no matter what role you have in a project. You don’t have to know everything, but you need to be able to speak the same language as the people you’re working with.

Final result: The final outcome of our three weeks of work was a dark room with cubes made of flower sticks and silk paper hanging from the roof. Each cube contained a RGB led. In the middle of the room we placed a podium containing two ultra sonic sensors. Both the leds and the sensors was connected to Arduino. When placing your hands above the sensors, depending on how high you held your hands, the Arduino would send different values to the RGB leds, making them shine in different colors.

Extra material: The documentation of our work can be found in my flickr photostream and in our group blog. You can also read my personal blog posts about the project. Fred also made an excellent film that explains it all, read and look here!

WORK SHADOW

Hyper Island, january 19th – february 13th 2009

alicia

Aim/Purpose: Work Shadow was a part of the module Specialization 1: Management. The aim was to get even closer industry insight by working in pairs with observations, analysis and business strategy at an agency through the method of “work-shadowing”.

The mission: Me and my partner Alica spent two weeks at the agency Grow in Stockholm, looking at agency issues such as “organisation, roles and ownership”, “clients and clients process”, “project process and lifecycle”, “culture, routines and problem solving”, “economics” and “existing strategy”. After our weeks of acting like “flies on the wall” we wrote a report of all our conclusions and suggestions of how Grow could improve their business.

Learning outcome: Both me and Alicia learned a lot about the life working at a bigger agency such as Grow. We got some insights in the difficulties communicating a strategy through the whole organization and also the benefits with being big, and being able to work with big clients and projects. We had two awesome weeks!
